I'm a high school student that just started playing bassoon last year. I taught myself everything and really love playing it, however there is  no bassoon section in our high school band and I need a good bassoon to hold my own. I am currently borrowing one from the school and it's not exactly the greatest, nicest, or newest. Any bassoon that hasn't been played very much (1-10 years) or is in good-enough condition, I am willing to consider. I do not have much money at all, so a give-away bassoon would be ideal. Student going into artist program at a Canadian university. Looking for a choice of:
 
~Moosmann 200AP, like new, at $12000-$12500 US
~Puchner, recent and in good visual cond., at $11000-$13000 US
~Schreiber Prestige Model, recent and in great cond., at $12500 US or less
~Fox Model I, the latest version of it (as adv. on Fox site), at $10000-$12500 US
~Any reliable Heckel that meets at around these prices.
 
 
I have to trial the instrument. If you live in Quebec I can trial the instrument at around New Years.
If you live in Ontario I am open to a time to trial it.
Otherwise I would want to ship-trial it through a 3rd party, such as Charles Double Reeds.
I can pay for the instruments above in full, and I will only use paypal, or money order
through a safe 3rd party, such as a music store like Charles Double Reeds.

Hello, my siblings and I are trying to find a bassoon for our sister who is college bound.  My Mom is a single Mom of 7 kids and getting the last 3 out of the house.  Bassoon's are very expensive instruments, and my Mom can't afford to buy one for my sister.  She is top of her class, she has been the Field Commander for her High School Marching Band for the last 2 years, and she plays the bassoon (which is her favorite), the trumpet, clarinet, guitar and the piano.  She hopes to major in Music Performance and Minor in Music Education.  She is very bright and very deserving of a good instrument.  We are all able to put in some money to try to get her a quality instrument, but some of the prices have us all a little frightened.  If anyone knows of a quality professional grade bassoon (Fox, Schreiber,or Selmer) that is VERY reasonably priced we would all appreciate it.  If there are any charities/scholarship programs that you know of that award professional instruments to deserving kids, (she is definitely one of them) any information on them that you can provide would be great.  Collectively we have about $600 - $750 dollars.  Not anywhere near enough, but I think it's a start.  Please contact me if you have any questions!  Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Hello,
I'm a highschool senior looking for a bassoon.  I've been playing since 2001 and I love the bassoon!  I recently moved to Florida and my current school doesn't have any band classes (which just about killed me when I moved here).  I would like to be able to play in college though.  I am looking for a Fox Renard 240 or a Fox 220.  I can handle a few dents and dings, but would appreciate it if the instrument did not need too many repairs.  Because I am still in school and only work part-time, I need something for $5000 or less.  If you could lead me in the right direction, that would be wonderful!
